Phoenix Sports……………… Expanding Footprints & Widening Horizons

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Phoenix Sports Family. In the year 2006, a motley group, who shared a common passion for sports came together to create an unprecedented space and platform for the special, challenged, differently abled and underprivileged children to demonstrate and showcase their talent in a variety of sports like Handball, Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball etc. under the aegis of PHOENIX SPORTS.
The initial thrust was towards promotion of Handball, an Olympic sport, amongst these special children and other disadvantaged sections of society by making them an integral part of the various competitions and camps that Phoenix Sports conducted and organized. However, with passage of time our focus and commitment shifted to providing them more opportunities by widening the spectrum of sports in which they could display their hitherto untapped talents. By using sports as a medium to reach out to these disadvantaged and marginalized sections of our society, Phoenix Sports has endeavoured to nurture and harness the varied sporting talents that these children possess. In the process, it has been able to inculcate noble virtues like love, care, compassion, tolerance, discipline, teamwork, and fair play amongst these children. The avowed philosophy which drives the Phoenix Sports is creating a world without discrimination. It has been our constant and unwavering commitment to illuminate the lives of these children by making them an integral part of mainstream society. It is our belief that through participation in the various sporting events that we conduct, these children will develop self-confidence and self-esteem, as sports, like music transcends all boundaries and can be a great leveler. Efforts are under way to pick out the best from these children by providing them more challenging platforms. We assist in preparing these children for the Special Olympics by organizing camps conducted by our band of dedicated and committed volunteers.

PHOENIX SPORTS’ sole aim is to increase the awareness of fitness, provide an opportunity of sporting competitiveness exclusively to these Children of a Lesser God and thereby getting accreditation and acceptance in the mainstream society.

Phoenix Sports encompasses a lot of Schools, Colleges, Social Institutions, etc. It aims at including more and more institutions including Municipal Schools under its fold and tries to reach out to lot of schools on the outskirts of Mumbai and rural Maharashtra. The relationship and strong bond that the organization shares with these children is not only on the sports field but an attempt is also being made to boost their self-confidence to enable them to share the platform with children from mainstream society. We have also strived to provide opportunities to these children to give expression to their varied talents in other pursuits such as music, dance, art, etc. In our constant endeavour to reach out to these children with the sole objective of brightening their lives, we embark upon several initiatives which require a substantial financial outlay to implement and execute them. In the past, we have benefitted from the benevolent support received from generous corporates and friends. However, with each passing year, as we steadfastly deepen or commitment to the cause of these disadvantaged sections of society, the financial resources at our command need to be augmented.

We sincerely believe that as a service to humanity, each one of us has generosity of spirit and heart, to make our world a better place for the disadvantaged, needy and marginalized sections. Phoenix Sports has a vision to create a conducive environment for these disadvantaged sections to thrive and integrate themselves with the mainstream society and is thus constantly providing them opportunities through sports and cultural events to demonstrate and showcase their enormous talents which otherwise remain unnoticed. A host of events are meticulously planned each year. With each passing year, we are confronted with a different set of challenges, but that has not deterred us from pursuing our mission. We have been steadfast in our commitment and our spirits are high while we continue our relentless march in dedicating ourselves in this noble cause which is a service to humanity.
